17 weeks

We don't have any new photos to share yet, but a little fun news...Lori felt baby move for the first time last night. Tiny little kicks really low on the abdomen. They were really sporadic and small, so Dave did not get kicked yet. Lori's been anxiously waiting for the first movements, and so it was a really exciting moment for her.

This is from the weekly email on the progress of the wee one:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Does anyone even like turnips?

xoxo

I LOVED those fruit & veggie comparisions! We even made up a song for the babe "hey hey hey, little kidney bean... don't you know how much you mean...to your daddy and me, and the rest of the family... hey hey hey little kidney bean!" There were a few different verses, all based on the comparision at the time. I skipped turnip, though... what rhymes with turnip? Not even parsnips!

Lori! I finally added you to my blogroll to keep up. And it's listed by most recent update- so you're dead last. Not that I'm trying to guilt you into any new posts or cute pics of Matty or anything...
